RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of the children’s ministry including, but not limited to, Sunday school, extended sessions and children’s worship, Wednesday night activities including AWANA, Vacation Bible School, summer programs, children’s camp, Easter egg hunt, Trunk or Treat, and other events.
Assure that a high-quality children’s worship is provided each week.
Proactively complete background checks for all childcare workers and leaders before placing them in ministry.
Coordinate with Associate Pastor of Family Ministry to develop, post, and enforce security and other policies pertinent to children’s ministry.
Recruit, train, and schedule all teachers, leaders, and caregivers that serve in the children’s ministry, including caregivers for services and special churchwide events where nursery care is needed, as well as maintain a current list of all volunteers with contact information and the activity for which they have volunteered.
Keep ongoing record of attendance of children and leaders and follow up as necessary.
Oversee budget expenditures for children’s ministry keeping within approved amounts.
Organize classrooms and ensure their safety and cleanliness with attention to the following nursery, toddler, and preschool items:
Routinely inspect equipment, toys, and supplies.
Report repair and maintenance needs to appropriate personnel.
Restock snack supplies, cups, and napkins when needed.
Collect and launder used crib sheets weekly.
Maintain a library of picture books and music/songs on cassettes or CDs for use in the nursery and toddler areas when needed.
Effectively collaborate with other ministries within the church on an ongoing basis.
Meet with, counsel, and pray with families regarding spiritual matters.
Develop relationships with local elementary schools and develop a strategy for reaching the staff and families.
Other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
This position will report directly to the senior pastor. The Director will supervise children’s department volunteers and leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Prior experience in children’s ministry
Experience in evaluating programs and material for children
Compassion, care, and sincerity
Mature Christian faith and the ability to share that faith with children
Excellent skills in the following areas:
Administration
Communication
Working with a team
Organization and the ability to prioritize
HOURS:
Part‐time salaried position up to 29 hours per week
Salary commensurate of experience
