Associate Pastor of Family Ministries
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan, coordinate and oversee all aspects of the K through 12th grade Student and Family Ministry
Cast and communicate vision for the spiritual development of families.
Proactively complete background checks for all workers and leaders before placing them in ministry. This includes volunteers and paid workers.
Develop, post, and enforce security and other policies pertinent to the Family Ministry.
Maintain a current list of all volunteers and leaders with names/addresses/phone numbers and the activity for which they have volunteered.
Recruit, train, schedule, and keep an active database of volunteers and leaders within the Family Ministry.
Organize classrooms and ensure their safety and cleanliness.
Approve all programs, curricula, and activities.
Recruit, train, and sustain a growing network of Sunday school and small group leaders who are aligned with the mission, vision, values, and best ministry practices of First Baptist Church.
Develop and implement a small group strategy to work in conjunction with Sunday school for the purpose of discipleship and outreach.
Meet quarterly with Sunday School Workers and small group leaders to address concerns, answer questions, keep them abreast of happenings and to plan for the future.
Meet with, counsel, and pray, with families regarding spiritual matters.
Grow ministry strategies that focus on the unique needs of parents as their children move through each stage of development.
Develop and maintain an outreach ministry to offer encouragement and support to the families (kids, students, and parents).
Expand ministry strategies (outreach/discipleship) that help parents and families in every stage of life.
Select/develop age‐appropriate material for individualized instruction regarding salvation, baptism, church membership, etc.
Oversee budget & expenditures for the different ministries under the Family Ministry keeping within approved amounts. This includes any costs for paid workers.
Recommend effective outreach/discipleship materials for all ages/ministry areas.
Other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
This position will report directly to the Senior Pastor. The Associate Pastor will supervise the Family
Ministry employees and oversee department volunteers including all Sunday school and small group leaders.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience in Family Ministry
Experience in evaluating programs and materials for children, students, and parents.
College/Seminary degree in Education/Ministry, preferred
